Thanks for visiting my page!

I’m a freelance photographer and a part-time dentist based in Portland, Oregon.

My journey into photography was unexpected, but life affirming. My family immigrated to the Los Angeles area from Seoul, South Korea when I was 14 years old. In college, I decided to pursue a career in dentistry because I wanted to achieve the ultimate immigrant American dream: work hard and earn the title of doctor. Yet, after 3 years of working as a full-time dentist, I was burnt out. I was both mentally and physically exhausted. It felt like there was no way out. It took me almost two years just to have the courage to re-evaluate myself — what are my values, what makes me happy, and what am I passionate about. I decided to take action by cutting down on my work hours to pursue my dream of becoming a professional photographer. My first foray into food photography happened during the COVID-19 pandemic, but it allowed me to share with others my passion for cooking and photography as well as my story of being a 1.5-generation, Korean-American woman. So, this is the next chapter of my journey, now as a professional photographer. I feel more alive and energized now that I have found my passion.
